There has been talk of it in the past, but I think it's finally time to start up a book club.

Who would be interested?

If you are interested, what would you like to read? The Aristasian classics? An up-to-date novel? Please give me your suggestions!

I voted for the Aristasian classics - some of which I haven't read for ages - but I must say I got a great deal out of seeing Maria-sama ga Miteru together back in the days of the White Rose Kinema Club. Our discussions of the characters and their charming Amities enriched this beautiful series greatly.

I adore MariMite because it seems closer than anything else (except Aristasian literature) to Aristasian literature. Amative literature in a (with a few skippable exceptions) all-feminine world against a background of a feminine devotion. And all done in an atmosphere of absolute purity and goodness.

I should love to read something like this together if there is anything.

The poll is just for me to get a rough idea--we won't make any decisions by it.

I have been constantly combing the girls' sections of bookstores, but I can't find anything currently in publication that doesn't have masculi in it. (Or that comes close to the charm and purity of MariMite.) Of course, I am always on the lookout for British schoolgirl books, but it is not likely that everyone would be able to get hold of a copy of one.

The Secret Garden

Other books:

I've voted for up-to-date books only because there are so many! *giggles*

Both the of the options would be swell, but I cast my vote for up-to-date books because they would be probably be easier for everyone to obtain a copy of.

The Ladies Almanack
Nightwood

I was looking for Nightwood in the bookstore just yesterday! Unfortunately, they did not carry anything by Miss Barnes. (It is not the best bookstore, though.)

Ladies, I think it would be a good idea if we make The Feminine Universe our first book. Does anyone have any protests to that? Could everyone manage a chapter a week?

All right! The Feminine Universe it is.

Does everyone have her copy? Do we need to delay the beginning of the book club so that anyone can get one?

Once I get a yea or nay from everyone, I'll explain how I want the process to run.

Miss Viola, we are planning to read a chapter of the book each week, then share questions and have a discussion about that week's chapter.

The book club will now begin.

Please read the introduction of The Feminine Universe by this Friday. I want you all to come up with one or two discussion questions as you are reading and post them in this thread during the week. (The introduction is short, but by no means low on information.)

We will meet on Friday, at 8:00 PM Virtualia time, on the College terrace, to discuss the reading.

If you do not have your book yet, you can read the introduction here.

http://www.aristasia.co.uk/fuintro.html

If this arrangement does not work for anyone, please let me know immediately so that I can make adjustments.
